The Facts
According to the American Cancer Society, over 182,000 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and over 40,000 will die. Most of them (80%) won't have any genetic predisposition to the disease. It will come out of the blue--detected with a mammogram, during a visit to the doctor's office, or in a self-exam at home. That's if it's detected at all. Less than a third of American women follow the recommended guidelines for self-examination and regular mammography. Many of them don't have access to a doctor or are too afraid of the results to find out. |

About the Event
The Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day is a three day, sixty-mile walk form Kenosha, WI to Chicago, IL. During the event, I will be living in an amazing Mobile City, which is moved day to day. In this "city" we'll be able to get hot meals and showers, even nightly entertainment. I participated in this event last year and I am excited to be doing it again. The experience was intense, both physically and emotionally. Prior to the walk last year I trained for 7 months walking both inside and outside. The Chicago 2001 event raised over million and I alone was able to raise about for the cause. This made the pain and sweat worthwhile.
You can follow my journey this year on this web-site. I will be posting new articles every month on the "What's New Page".
